Evaluating the Efficiency of the Performance oof Health Institutions from the Perspective of Health Personnel in the Saudi Health Sector
Abstract
Efficiency is the application of resources in a way that maximizes intended results. Policymakers around the world are prioritizing health system efficiency as nations strive for universal health coverage and deal with the added issue of an aging population. Few research has examined system level (national or sub-national) efficiency in the health sector; instead, efficiency analysis has primarily concentrated on the effectiveness of healthcare facilities (hospitals, primary healthcare facilities). Having a thorough understanding of the inputs, outputs, outcomes, and causes of efficiency within the health system can help with policy formulation and managerial decision-making. Policymakers around the world are prioritizing health system efficiency as nations strive for universal health coverage and deal with the added issue of an aging population. The efficiency of healthcare facilities—hospitals and primary healthcare facilities, in particular—has traditionally been the focus of efficiency study in the health sector.
