Society In Transition: The Sociological Impacts Of Recent Migration Trends In Italy
Abstract
This paper explores the sociological impacts of recent migration trends on Italian society. Drawing on a mixed-methods approach that combines quantitative analysis of a new dataset with a focus group methodology, this study investigates the multifaceted experiences of migrants in Italy. The research examines key dimensions of integration, including acculturation strategies, [1]discrimination, mental health and wellbeing, and socioeconomic outcomes. The findings reveal a complex picture of integration, with significant variations based on migrants’ backgrounds, acculturation strategies, and experiences of discrimination. The paper presents a detailed analysis of a dataset of 842 migrants in Italy, identifying four distinct clusters of integration experiences. The results highlight the challenges and opportunities that migration presents for Italian society and provide insights for policymakers and civil society organizations working to promote social cohesion and migrant integration.
