A Comprehensive Introduction To "Aziz Al-Tafasir" And Its Impact On The Intellectual And Socio-Religious Landscape Of Afghan Society: An Analytical Study

Abstract

This study examines Aziz al-Tafasir, the Qur’anic commentary by Sheikh Sultan Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him), and its impact on shaping intellectual, doctrinal, scientific, and social trends in Afghan society. The tafsir clarifies sound Islamic beliefs, confronts intellectual deviations and superstitions, and supports its arguments through evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah. It also addresses contemporary issues such as the status of women, marriage, and social values, linking Qur’anic teachings to real-life contexts.The commentary emphasizes moral and educational values, calling on society to act upon the Qur’an, follow the Prophet ﷺ, and achieve intellectual and economic independence. It also stresses the importance of education and self-sufficiency. Field data indicate that this tafsir has had a positive influence on people’s awareness and behavior, combining scholarly depth, linguistic clarity, and moderation in jurisprudence and creed. Moreover, it exerts both spiritual and practical influence, making it a contemporary model that unites academic understanding with missionary insight and responds effectively to modern challenges.
