Abstract

This study examines the political and missionary roles of the Companions of the Prophets in relation to Judaism, with particular focus on the period when the Israelites were passing through phases of tribal fragmentation, external pressures, and religious weakness. Within this context, the role of Saul (Ṭālūt) stands out, as he emerged as the first organized ruler of the Israelites. The significance of this topic lies in the fact that existing literature generally approaches these figures from a purely religious perspective, while their contributions to political organization, defensive strategies, and missionary reforms have received comparatively little attention. This neglected dimension constitutes the central research gap of the study. The purpose[1] of the research is to highlight how the Companions of the Prophets assumed leadership, organized the nation, and strengthened collective consciousness in the face of external threats. Methodologically, a qualitative analytical approach has been adopted. Primary and secondary sources, historical records, religious traditions, and relevant scholarly debates have been comparatively examined. The key findings reveal that the Companions of the Prophets not only carried out missionary reforms but also laid down political frameworks. Saul established military discipline, unified the tribes, and resisted foreign domination. He laid the foundation of central authority upon which more stable governments were built in subsequent eras. The implications of this research are that it provides deeper insight into the political processes, leadership models, and missionary strategies in Jewish history, while also offering valuable material for contemporary political and social studies.
