This study investigates the effectiveness of Integrated Land and Water Resource Management (ILWRM) in resolving conflicts over land use at the Chotiari Water Reservoir in Sindh, Pakistan. The reservoir, which was originally built for prevention of flooding and agricultural irrigation, has caused unintentional social and environmental consequences, including community displacement, diminished biodiversity, and conflicts among stakeholders including fishermen, landowners, and environmental activists. The study uses a mixed-methods approach, including qualitative focus group discussions (FGDs) and quantitative regression analysis, to assess the public's views of the distribution of resources and its effects on livelihoods, based on [1]responses from 200 participants. The regression results indicate that water availability (β = 0.42, p = 0.006) and livelihood improvements (β = 0.38, p = 0.002) positively affect community satisfaction, while biodiversity loss (β = -0.55, p < 0.001) and agricultural productivity (β = -0.29, p = 0.03) negatively influence outcomes. The qualitative findings emphasize recurring issues such as unequal distribution of resources and a lack of administrative transparency, which have exacerbated stakeholder tensions. The study concludes the fact that Integrated Land and Water Resource Management (ILWRM) provides an effective framework for dealing with competing demands by allocating resources fairly, fostering collaborative governance, and developing strategic plans. ILWRM contributes significantly to sustainable development by combining preserving the environment with socioeconomic needs, allowing for the accomplishment of global goals such as water management, asset equity, and maintaining ecosystems. The findings highlight the importance of equitable decision-making and improved governance in improving outcomes, presenting helpful knowledge for policymakers and subsequent studies on environmentally friendly resource management.
