An Overview of John Elia's Ghazal in Postmodern Perspective (Application Aspect)
Abstract
Postmodernism is based on multiplicity. Unlike the mechanical life of modernism, postmodernism reveals the truths of life. An abundance of information and communicative advancements are its supportive means. It prioritizes the individuality of the person[1] over collectivity. Due to its emphasis on causes and reasons, postmodern writers tread the path of skepticism and curiosity, leading to the formation of psychological and philosophical ideas.
John Elia's poetry is based on the individual's internal anguish, the reality of existence, and philosophical points of life and death. The individual's life is insignificant and perishable, leading to a state of discentralization. The individual becomes confined to the boundaries of self and attempts to scrutinize the details of life. John Elia's poetry reflects all these attitudes.
