Abstract

The study titled Role of Parents towards the Social Media in Peace Building explored how parental guidance influenced the constructive use of social media for fostering harmony and conflict resolution. It highlighted parents as primary agents in shaping children’s digital behavior and promoting peace-oriented values within online spaces. The objectives of the study were to examine the influence of parents’ attitudes toward social media on their perceptions of peace building, to investigate [1]their role in guiding children’s online activities for peace, and to explore how their peace building perceptions impacted digital supervision. A quantitative correlational research design was adopted, with data collected through a survey of 270 parents in Islamabad using a self-developed questionnaire, and analysis conducted through SPSS with Pearson correlation. Findings for the first objective revealed a positive and significant correlation (r = .62, p < 0.01), showing that parents with positive attitudes toward social media had stronger perceptions of peace building. The study recommended awareness programs, school-based workshops, and parental training for responsible digital supervision, while its significance lay in offering valuable insights for families, educators, and policymakers to utilize social media as a constructive tool for peace building and reducing online conflict.
