A Study On Impact Of Work-Life Balance Programs On Employee Productivity: A Systematic Review Of Ites Sector Literature
Abstract
Work-life balance (WLB) programs have gained prominence in the ITES sector due to high stress, long hours, and burnout risks. Organizations increasingly seek strategies to enhance productivity without compromising employee well-being. This review evaluates two decades of research to understand the role of WLB initiatives in influencing productivity.
The study aims to systematically analyze literature from 2014 to 2024 on how work-life balance programs impact employee productivity in the ITES sector. It identifies commonly adopted practices, examines their outcomes, and highlights key enablers and barriers to successful implementation of WLB strategies.
Using the PRISMA framework, 60 peer-reviewed articles were screened and selected from databases like Scopus and Web of Science. The review focused on English-language studies from the past 10 years, applying rigorous inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure relevance and quality of insights within the ITES context.
The review found that flexible schedules, remote work options, and wellness initiatives consistently improve employee focus, morale, and output. However, effectiveness varies with organizational [1]culture, managerial support, and employee demographics. Productivity gains are strongest when WLB programs are integrated into broader employee engagement and performance management frameworks.
Work-life balance programs significantly contribute to enhanced productivity in the ITES sector when supported by inclusive policies and sustained leadership commitment. The review underscores the need for customized, data-driven WLB strategies that address both individual and organizational goals, especially in evolving hybrid work environments.
