Abstract

This study provides an in-depth analysis of digital transformation in the fashion industry, focusing on its impact on supply chains, business models, and sustainability. Using desk research and empirical analysis, it explores the adoption of 3-dimensional virtual and digital (3DVD) technologies such as digital twinning (DT), virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR), and 3D modeling. Findings reveal significant improvements in[1] operational efficiency, including a 44% reduction in lead time and a 58% drop in product returns. Regression analysis confirms a strong correlation between digital adoption and business model innovation (R² = 0.78), while sustainability outcomes—such as a 50% reduction in waste—underscore environmental benefits. However, barriers like financial constraints and lack of expertise persist, particularly for SMEs. The study offers practical recommendations to address these challenges and facilitate sustainable digital transformation.

However, digital adoption is hampered by financial limitations and skill shortages, especially among SMEs. This underscores the need for targeted training, strategic tech partnerships, and policy-level support. Overall, the study positions digital transformation as not only a catalyst for operational excellence but also a critical enabler of sustainable growth in the fashion industry.
