Abstract

Psychological safety (PS) refers to how people interpret the effects of social risk-taking in a given setting, such as the workplace. Understanding the nature of psychological safety and determining the factors that contribute to it are increasingly [1]the focus of conceptual and empirical research. This study aims to examine the serially mediating mechanisms of active empathic listening, trust, behavioral integrity in the primary relationship between transformational leadership and psychological safety. To test the model, empirical data were collected from 211 nursing staff in four big public sector hospitals in Peshawar, Pakistan. Structural equation modeling was used to test the hypotheses. The results reveal that most of the mediation links and also the overall mediation model was supported. The findings have both theoretical and practical implications that would improve performance of the workers in general and nurses in particular in the health sector.
