Embracing Ai In Teacher Education: Opportunities And Challenges For Professional Growth
Abstract
The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education is reshaping teaching and learning practices, with significant implications for teacher education and professional development. This paper explores how AI-driven tools and platforms are influencing the preparation, upskilling, and continuous learning of teachers in both pre-service and in-service contexts. Through a review of recent literature, case studies, and practitioner feedback, the study identifies key opportunities AI offers—such as personalized learning paths, real-time feedback, automated assessments, and data-driven instructional planning. It also critically examines challenges, including ethical concerns, digital divides, and resistance to change among educators. The paper argues for a balanced and reflective approach to incorporating AI in teacher training programs, emphasizing the need for pedagogical adaptability and digital literacy. Furthermore, it highlights the role of institutional support and policy frameworks in ensuring equitable and effective implementation. By bridging technological advancements with pedagogical needs, the study aims to contribute to the evolving discourse on sustainable and inclusive teacher development in the age of AI.
