Urdu Poetesses Praising the Holy Prophet (PBUH)
Abstract
Naat stands as a deeply valued tradition of Urdu poetry wherein poetry praises the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through elegant poetic expressions. Female Urdu poetesses have produced outstanding Naats which combine their deep emotional intensity and devout literary style with unique characteristics that match the excellent works of their male counterparts. This paper investigates the great artistic contributions of renowned female poets Mah Laqa Bai Chanda, Ada Jafri, and Parveen Shakir with additional members who composed beautiful sacred verses about their Prophet (PBUH). Through their work the poets combine devotion with deep longing for the spiritual and a heartfelt view of the Prophet (PBUH) selected traits. The literary aesthetics of classical traditions meet personal prayer together with mystical elements when female poets construct their poems which produce deep emotional responses in readers. This research investigates female Naat poetry through the lens of poetic style as well as thematic content while studying the sacred elements that make their work distinct from male compositions in this genre. Through this exploration the author aims to recognize female poets who built the Urdu Naat tradition because they offer significant contributions to Islamic literary heritage.
