Abstract

As climate change has become more and more evident in the world, and according to the long-term index of German Watch, Pakistan has always been among the 10 most vulnerable countries to climate every year since 2010. Pakistan is one of the countries that are most faced with serious impacts of climate change. Pakistan contributes less than 1% of global carbon emissions. Therefore, in 2021, it has officially started the process of creating a domestic adaptation plan to build repercussion to climate change. However, it has very little technical and financial capacity to adopt the method to mitigate the harmful effects of cclimate change. But it was imperative that Pakistan come up with adaptive measures to comply with global goals and programs and sustainable development. Pakistan has taken steps to fulfill the international commitment of the UN SDG agenda for sustainable development and is helping to produce a green economy despite the volatile financial and political situation by mitigating and adapting climate change response policies. However, Pakistan's readiness to address climate change is conditioned by significant development funds and significant investments that will be combined as climate finance. This article examines why adaptation is important for Pakistan? How will Pakistan continue to adapt its national plans to come up with a second climate change policy in the futuree and how likely are these plans to be implemented, by keeping in view the Pakistan's capabilities and resources?
