Analysis Of Gadamer's 'Fusion Of Horizon' In Kudumbashree
Abstract
This article explores the application of Hans-Georg Gadamer’s ‘fusion of horizons’ within Kudumbashree, a grassroots women’s network in Kerala, India. The study conducts a qualitative analysis through interviews with eight Kudumbashree members from Adhichanallor Panchayat, Kerala, India focusing on personal growth and empowerment through social, political, and cultural lenses. It reveals that Kudumbashree meetings exemplify Gadamer’s theory, promoting mutual respect and shared visions. The fu[1]sion of horizons emerges as a transformative force, fostering solidarity and collective action, which is crucial for community development and women’s well-being. The organization’s commitment to developing social capital is highlighted as a key factor in enhancing welfare provisions and facilitating empowerment. The findings demonstrate Kudumbashree’s significant impact on societal transformation, supporting local women’s upliftment and contributing to Kerala’s welfare. The study affirms the practical relevance of Gadamer’s hermeneutics in empowering individuals and reshaping societal norms towards inclusivity and equity.
