Integration Of Health Services: The Pharmacy Partner In Infant Care
Abstract
This abstract explores the evolving role of community pharmacies as providers of primary healthcare (PHC) services. While traditionally known for dispensing medications and selling products, community pharmacies are increasingly embracing a patient-centered approach by offering professional services such as vaccination, medication adherence management, and minor ailment management. These changes are driven by governmental policies aimed at encouraging individuals to access healthcare services at an appropriate level and optimizing medication[1] use for improved safety and efficacy. Despite these advancements, the integration of community pharmacies into healthcare systems remains limited, primarily due to historical perceptions and existing contractual arrangements. Nevertheless, there is a growing recognition among professional organizations and pharmacists of the importance of community pharmacies in PHC, advocating for greater integration into the healthcare system. This abstract highlights the potential of community pharmacies to contribute to the delivery of comprehensive and accessible primary healthcare services.
